Joseph Clifford Hill, Jr. was born on October 16, 1929 in McCallsburg, Iowa to Joseph C. Hill, Sr. and Ada (Sorenson) Hill. He was baptized and confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa.
He went into the service in 1950 and he was in the Air National Guard 132nd Medical Group during the Korean War. He reported to Bangor, Maine on April 1, 1951, at the DOW AFB for 14 months: he was airman second class. He was stationed in Alexander, Louisiana, for five months, then he was discharged on December 27, 1953.
He married Lenora Marilyn (Anderson) on August 28, 1954 at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, Iowa. They lived and farmed south of Ames for 5 years and then moved north of Roland for 14 years until he retired from farming in 1974. They moved to Radcliffe until his death.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and always had a big garden that he shared with his family and friends. Comart was a favorite stop and they treated him like a king.
His family was very important to him. He spent everyday at his son’s house helping with the greyhounds. He loved to get together with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as often as he could. He had a very generous heart and was a friend to all.
