Obituary for Gerrick Terrell Stotser

Gerrick Stotser, age 45, of Cedar Fall, IA, died early Sunday, February 2, 2020 as a result of being struck by an automobile while riding his bicycle on the 1800 block of Greenhill Road in Waterloo, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

He was born May 3, 1974 in Iowa Falls. He graduated from Grundy Center High school in 1993, from Hawkeye Community College and the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in art. Gerrick was a jack of all trades in the food service industry including sales, business development, and kitchen management. Most recently, he was the kitchen manager at The Stuffed Olive and Roxxy in Cedar Falls. Gerrick was known locally as a person who would assist anyone who needed a helping hand. He was a free spirit that never gave up trying to conquer challenges.
Gerrick was an avid outdoorsman who loved bicycling, kayaking, fishing, camping, and hunting. There was no weather too humid or cold for him to ride his fat bicycle; and he loved riding year round. He biked back and forth to work, and to errands.
Gerrick was a great father, brother, son, uncle, and friend. He was a fantastic chef and could make anything from lobster to a skinned squirrel taste incredible. Gerrick was an artist who enjoyed painting, sculpture, and sketching. In addition to having a unique sense of humor, Gerrick had a laugh that was contagious. He could make a joke during any situation. Since he was little, Gerrick was a huge Star Wars fan who could binge watch for hours and even shared his vintage toys with his children. Gerrick loved music and shared that with his children, family, and special friends Emily, Haley, and Tyler Dahl, Jordan Gray, and Kyra Lewis.
He is survived by five children Keghan, Shaelynn, Braydon, Dax, and Reagan Stotser of Waterloo, IA; his parents Jackie Chaplin and husband Kevin of Hubbard, IA; Bruce Stotser and wife Frances of Janesville, one brother Sean Stotser and wife Jodi of Atlanta, GA; three nieces Kora, Kaycee, and Karlee Chaplin of Hubbard, Iowa; two cats Pip and Polly; and one ball python, he jokingly named Balls.
