Lee Anna Klatt, age 88, of Ames, IA, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Bickford of Ames.
Lee Anna Clarice (Hinderaker) Klatt was born on a farm near Radcliffe, IA on December 16, 1930. As a young girl growing up on the farm, she often told stories of driving the tractor and helping her father on the farm.
She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1948. She married Maurice (Jens) Klatt on March 13, 1949 in Radcliffe and moved to Baker, Montana, near her sister-in-law, Darlene Klatt Martin. They returned back to Radcliffe where Jens was manager of the local Farmers’ Co-op Lumber Yard in Radcliffe, where son David was born in 1951. In 1959, they bought the Ames Lumber Company and moved to Ames, and in 1961, son Jon was born. Lee Anna assisted her mother in cooking at the Riverside Bible Camp in Story City and later became the head cook. She also volunteered babysitting at Bethesda Lutheran Church for various groups and later was asked to babysit for the group, as English is a Second Language, at various churches in Ames.
She enjoyed playing board games and cards and was an avid golfer, (she even had a hole-in-one) all which she enjoyed with her friends. Baking cookies, other desserts, and Christmas candies were activities she enjoyed.
