Obituary for Wilma Jean Wykle

Wilma Wykle, age 92, of Radcliffe, IA, passed away on Sunday July 14, 2019 at the Hubbard Care Center.
Wilma Jean (Olson) Wykle was born December 25, 1926 on the family farm near Ellsworth, Iowa. She was the third daughter of John and Lesa (Erickson) Olson.
She attended country school through the eighth grade, Ellsworth Public School and then her junior and senior year she attended Radcliffe High School where she graduated with the Class of 1944. Wilma received her normal teacher training at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.
It was during her senior year that she met Leo Wykle. After he returned from the service in 1946, they were united in marriage on February 16, 1947 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.
They started farming and lived on the old John Wykle farm northeast of Radcliffe. All four of their children were born while living on this farm. In 1958, they moved to the C. T. Rierson farm. After 40 years of farming, they retired in 1986 and moved to Radcliffe.
Wilma was a member of the Radcliffe Legion Auxiliary, Needle Circle, Red Hat Ladies Club and Our Savior’s Lutheran where she was actively involved. She loved attending all of her children and grandchildrens’ school and sporting events.
Wilma went to the Hubbard Care Center on October 25, 2018 and passed away there on July 14, 2019.
Those thankful for having shared her life include her four children Lee (Joy) Wykle of Radcliffe, Juliann and (Bob) Roediger of Lenexa, Kansas, Sara Bertholf of West Des Moines and Kevin Wykle of Radcliffe; 9 grandchildren Sally (BJ) Balvanz, Lee (Jenna) Roediger, Samantha (Sam) Zoske, Lesa (Ted) Polzer, Nathan (Jenna) Wykle, Garrett (Crystal) Bertholf, Natalie (Jess) Erdman, Aaron (Amanda) Wykle and Amy (Shane) VanEngen; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo in 1998, two sisters Eleanor Olson and Idelle Hyland.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be established.
